Your First 30 Days
If you are new to Tai Chi, here is how the first month is meant to go — self-paced, with no prior experience needed.
- Week 1 — Build your foundation
- Posture, breathing, and the basic movements everything else builds on.
- Week 2 — Develop your daily practice
- Follow guided lessons to turn short practice sessions into a steady routine.
- Week 3 — Learn your first structured sequence
- Connect individual movements into a short, repeatable sequence.
- Week 4 — Continue your path toward deeper forms
- Move into the fuller programs at your own pace — the path continues from here.
The pace is yours — treat these weeks as a guide, not a deadline. Complete beginners usually start with the Wuji Foundation program.

Every form filmed from the front and the back, so you can mirror the instructor — at whatever pace your body allows.
Joint-friendly pace

Is Wuji Academy Right for You?
Right for you if…
- ✓ You want to practise at home, on your own schedule — 10, 15 or 30 minutes at a time
- ✓ Scattered YouTube videos left you without a next step, and you want a written curriculum instead
- ✓ You're building balance, mobility and calm as a long-term habit
- ✓ Your knees or joints need a gentle, low-impact practice with a slow pace option
- ✓ You'd rather pay less than one in-person class per month for unlimited access
Not the best fit if…
- — You need real-time form correction — lessons are pre-filmed and on-demand, with no live feedback
- — You want a fixed class schedule with a room full of people
- — You're looking for medical treatment or rehab — tai chi complements care, it doesn't replace it
If you have a health condition, recent injury, or balance concerns, check with your healthcare provider before starting any new practice.

Practitioners who made the switch
As a seasoned practitioner, I had hit a plateau. The emphasis on returning to Wuji and rebuilding from stillness completely transformed my practice. My push hands partners noticed the difference immediately.
I was intimidated to start Tai Chi with no fitness background. The step-by-step path made it accessible. Six months in, my balance has improved dramatically and I feel more centered in daily life.

Can I really learn Tai Chi online as a complete beginner?+
Yes — that is exactly who the programs are built for. Each one is a follow-along, step-by-step curriculum that assumes no prior experience: you practise the current movement until it feels right, then move to the next. Lessons are shot from front and back angles so you can mirror the shape, and you can replay any section as many times as you like. What we cannot do is correct your posture in real time, so we recommend starting with a short beginner program to build the fundamentals before advancing.
Is this live classes or recorded? Will an instructor correct my form?+
All lessons are pre-recorded, self-paced video — there are no scheduled live sessions, so you always practise on your own timetable. Because it is not live, an instructor cannot watch and correct your form in real time. You watch, mirror the on-screen movement, and use the written cues and milestone checks in each program to self-correct. If you specifically want live feedback and hands-on adjustment, in-person classes are a better fit.
How much time and equipment do I need?+
Most programs are designed around 15 to 20 minutes a day, and every lesson is short enough to fit into a break. No special equipment or clothing is required — a pair of flat-soled shoes and enough floor space to extend your arms is plenty. You can watch on a phone, tablet, or computer, and practising in a small room or apartment works fine.
Is the free content really staying free?+
Yes. Public blog guides, the glossary, and public videos remain free, forever — along with streaming music and the short Qigong practice downloads. Selected articles also offer full member editions, included with an active membership. Every structured program, the members-only video library, and the full-length Qigong recordings sit behind membership — there are no trial lessons and no courses unlock without an active plan.
